Email

What's my CPS Email address?
Your email address is your student username followed by @stu.cpsk12.org. An example would be 23xyz01@stu.cpsk12.org

My email has stopped working. What should I look for?
There are some steps you can follow to see if your email is set up properly.
  • Open your Settings App, scroll down, and choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
  • You should see one account listed that says "School Email".
  • Select the account "School Email".
  • Now press the option that includes your email address. Should be the top button.
  • Double check to make sure your password field is filled in. If it's empty, add your password and press "Done".
How do I install Email on my iPad?
Email gets installed automatically when you set up your iPad. Open the Mail app, and you should get prompted for your school password. If you don't get that prompt, then it's time to visit the media center.

I sent an email, but it was never received. Why does my iPad hate me so much?
It's nothing personal. In fact, it might have been your fault (I promise I won't tell anyone). Let's first make sure you are sending the email to the right person...
  • Press the compose button to start your new email (the little box with a pencil in it).
  • Put the cursor in the "To" field.
  • Now, start typing in the name of the person you'd like to email. Spell it correctly, of course. When you've entered most or all of the name, you should see options appear below. Remember that there are often people who share last names and sometimes full names in our school district. Take your time to choose the right one.
    • For teachers, the email should read aname@cpsk12.org
    • For students, the email should read 21xyz01@stu.cpsk12.org
  • If you have already sent an email to the wrong address, your iPad will remember it and not know it's incorrect. That's why you have to go slowly!

My teacher says I need to be more professional. How do I add an email signature?
Thank your teacher! I wish all teachers used email signatures. Here's what you need to do:
  • Open your Settings App, scroll down, and choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
  • Scroll down until you see the Signature field. Tap it.
  • If you have more than one email account installed, you might see the option for "All Accounts or Per Account". I would suggest making one signature for all accounts.
  • Now enter your signature in the lower field. Here are some tips for making a professional signature
    • Include your first and last name
    • Include your school, grade, and teacher (if you are an elementary student)
    • Keep it simple. You don't need to include your personal accomplishments. Nobody cares that you were the "Most Improved Badminton Player" during 4th grade summer camp.
