Connect to Wireless

How do I know I'm connected to wireless?
Well, you probably are connected or you wouldn't be reading this. But if you look in the upper left corner of your screen, you should be able to see the wireless "tornado" like the one to the right:

What wireless network should I be connected to at school?
You should be connected to the privatecps network
  • Open your Settings App
  • Choose Wi-Fi
  • Choose privatecps
  • Enter your school username (example: 20xyz01) and password
I'm seeing some connection problems. What should I do first?
The first thing I would try is to restart your iPad. It's a good practice to do every now and then. Try these in order:
  • Soft restart: hold down the power button until you see the slide. Slide across the shut down. Then turn on again.
  • Hard restart: hold down the power button and home button until you see the Apple logo appear onscreen.
My iPad keeps connecting me to the guestcps network instead. How do I fix it?
A common issue. Here's what you need to do:
  • Open your Settings App
  • Choose Wi-Fi
  • Tap on the "i" to the right of the guestcps option
  • Choose the option to "Forget this network". Then confirm by pressing "Forget"
  • Now reconnect to privatecps and you should be good to go
My wireless is all messed up. I want to start fresh. How do I start over?
This procedure is something you may consider if you are having lots of strange issues. Follow the steps below. However, this will wipe out all saved networks so you'll have to reconnect at home as well.
  • Open your Settings App
  • Choose General
  • Scroll to the bottom and choose Reset
  • Choose the option for Reset Network Settings
  • Enter your passcode and then confirm you want to reset all network settings
  • The iPad will reboot. Once running again, reconnect to privatecps following the directions above
